Web Banners

This Year I was commissioned by the Port Augusta City Council to photograph and design a range of venues and  scenarios for the Council web page.
These are composite images that have been designed to provide the big picture but also include a focus on the people of our town. There is the added component  of use on various implements such as phones, tablets and wide screens to consider.

Melissa and Neil's Wedding

I only do a couple of weddings each year because it is difficult to fit them into my busy schedule. The editing takes quite a while and requires a big commitment of time so that couples aren't left waiting for ever to receive their precious pics.  This year I have had the privilege of working with Amanda and Conrad and Melissa and Neil on their wedding days.

Melissa was determined to have some fun on her day and although there were some lovely moments the chance to try some different, quirky scenarios gave me the opportunity to experiment with some new skills.

Thanks Melissa, hope you like them... ;-))

Hectic SPRING

Spring is traditionally a time for coming out of hibernation but I must say I can't remember a more busy time at our place !

An Exhibition at Rawnsley Park for "A Brush With Art "; Sculpture pieces for FIBRESPACE and CURDNATTA installed at The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden; Life on the Edge exhibition at Curdnatta; pieces exhibited in FREE RANGE and BLOOMS; a photoshoot for RUOK.  And in the middle of all this a visit from family.

In a parallel universe John was busy organising and rehearsing for the "Back to the Movies" musical evening by the Port Augusta Music Club.

Some benefits from exhibiting in the Flinders Ranges included opportunities to capture more of the beautiful scenery in that area.

The great news is I sold a half a dozen artworks and several books, bags and cushions  and to top it off Curdnatta's sculpture was judged second in the ARID sculptural event.

A Brush With Art

Well it is that time of year again and thanks to Carly Archer  event manager for A Brush With Art I am exhibiting in the Rawnsley Park Station Woolshed Restaurant

We took a leisurely drive through the Flinders Ranges today to set up the pieces and they look great in the rustic surroundings.

Cait Wait an artist from Beltanna is also exhibiting in the same space and although we have very different styles I am sure patrons will enjoy the experience.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the Brush With Art Event and there are many exhibitions to delight art lovers and travellers to the Region.

Trip to the Top End

A quick trip to the "Top End" provided a fantastic opportunity to photograph a different kind of  rugged Australian landscape.

The pics of Edith Falls have been well received on Australia.com.

An aerial view of Kakadu showed the landscape as an ethereal world with the fires of the dry season smoking eriely below and winding rivers glinting in the sun.

Katherine Gorge provided some challenging lighting  but the reflections added  to the sense of grandure.

Although I wasn't particularly intereted in crocodiles we found that they are a huge part of  tourism in the territory and I now know more about them than I could have ever imagined.

An afternoon with the Curdnatta Photographers

Another great time out and about with the photographers sharing skills and knowledge. A dozen people turned up all prepared to have a go at macro photography in the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden.
The cloud cover provided light box conditions but there was a small breeze blowing which provided a challenge, patience was required to get that crisp focus.
There was lots of discussion about camera setups and some people experimented with using two lenses connected together to achieve greater magnification.
As I spend quite a bit of time at the garden my personal challenge was to look at familiar subjects in a new way.

Magic Moments

As a photographer there are always moments that come along when you least expect them. The shimmer of a wing, the path of light at dawn, the play of colours against each other. It always pays to have your camera with you.
Here are some recent "Magic Moments".

JUST ART & PHOTOGRAPHY

This is the first page of a new blog that will focus on just my ARTS pursuits.

I have recently been delighted by the new products available at RedBubble. The cushions and totes appeal to my love of textile art and design. To see the pastel designs translated into a 3D form has been very exciting.

There are many products to choose from now including cards, posters, prints, canvases, and the new cushions and totes.

By browsing the RedBubble site you will find many ways to mix and match items.
